“A black cat crossing your path signifies that the animal is going somewhere.”
– Groucho Marx
Superstitions abound about black cats and about Friday the 13th.
In North America it is considered bad luck when a black cat crosses your path. This fallacy is attributed to the belief that witches could turn into black cats. Now that’s a trick I’d like to see!
Yet in the UK and Japan they are considered good luck.
You make your own luck. A cat, of any color, walking in front of you can’t affect that.
As the Chinese proverb goes: “Black cat or white cat. If it catches mice, it’s a good cat.”
